Agent:
There are slavers operating in Sanctuary. They are kidnapping children, generally but not exclusively orphans. They operate out of the ruins of Dunwarren, taking children off the streets especially in Lower Sanctuary.
I was alerted to their activity after the abduction of a youth from the Orphanage. The youth had run away to explore the Dunwarren ruins only to stumble upon the slaver's hide out therein.
The slaver's located in their encampment were eliminated, along with a wizard of some power and a large ogre. Their operation was well organized, and relied upon magical bags capable of hiding several children inside at a time.
It is likely the ogre was smuggled inside the city through one of their magical bags. While I reiterate that the encampment was eliminated, I do not believe that all members of this slaver group are likewise dealt with.
There is evidence that the camp was used for quite some time, a large build up of refuse, evidence of rope fragments suggesting a nearby escape tunnel has been utilized several times, stock piles of chains and cooking oil, and sadly the foolish swarming of the camp by an angry group of adventurers who tipped off the slavers to the threat of discovery giving them time to lay traps, ambushes, and I expect strongly--their leaders to escape.
With permission, I'd like to continue investigating this unless the Spellguard wishes to take over the operation immediately. I expect the slave leadership will return to this site or one nearby. My goal is not to catch them, but to discover who they are selling these children to and where. From there, it is possible the city can discover a means of rescuing our lost children. Afterwards, those connected with this highly organized slaving ring can be brought to justice.
During this operation a Seeker Agent and a Society Ordinate attempted to reign in the vagaries of the adventurers. Sadly, and as expected the Seeker eventually struck out and added to the chaos, the Ordinate attempted to watch the situation but made no attempt to control it after it became clear the adventurers were simply a blood thirsty mob. However, both men comported themselves well and with permission I'd explain my plans to them and incorporate their help.
A final note of concern. The slaver's had an escape route and delayed attempts to investigate their camp long enough to have moved the children into their magical sacks and escape. Instead, they continuously demanded that we get the Watch who they maintained would look around and demand we all leave and stop trespassing when nothing suspicious was found. I thought nothing of this until I began to write this report, a question strikes me now--why didn't they evacuate the camp during what amounted to a ten to fifteen minute delay? They had the time to do this and the resources?
Respectfully,
Barrister Fawkes
