Councillor Tyrell

Miss Tyrell,

I have attempted to glean what I can from the rare book shop, but the collection of literature available is not sufficient to the needs of our research. If your coincil duties are not too pressing, please forward any information you have on the following subjects:

1. Brewing Brewing in the underdark seems to be quite different from that on the surface, of what little I can remember. To brew a proper dwarven ale, substitutes might you suggest for oats, hops and traditional wood chips commonly used to add flavour to dwarven ales? Additionally, is there any specialized equipment beyond the insulated tuns, boiling/heating equipment and such normally used?

2. Vampires It seems Tornbeard Hall has had an uninvited visitor of the blood-sucking persuasion. Are there any records in the Town Archives which detail vampire infestations? Of particular note, of how they have been discovered in the past, as following a gaseous cloud to its lair seems nigh impossible.

3. Animatrons While I believe the Spellgauard records are the most complete, perhaps there is some information in the Town archives which details the early work done to tame and/or research the mechanical constructs? Any copies of these old records that you can spare would be most greatly appreciated.

May the light of Oghma illuminate the path to knowledge and wisdom,

Frors Boulderlock,

Thank you for your letter. I've a tract on brewing in the Underdark, I've taken the liberty of including a copy in this letter. A copy of Berger's Mushroom Brewing Guide is included, the tract details the necessary equipment and ingredients required for brewing alcoholic beverages in the Underdark.

Regarding vampires, it is certainly a problem in the Underdark. Although for exact records you would need to consult the Watch or Seekers or Society, I recall records regarding a vampire infestation connected to the brothels of the region formerly called the "Sanctuary Below" some thirty years ago. Additionally, a few rides short of a year ago there was a persistent vampire problem circulating around a lair in the abandoned Grunstubhle Mines.

Destroying vampires, I believe, can only be done by finding the coffin and staking the body. I'm not an expert on the matter, however, so it would be prudent to contact someone more knowledgable if necessary.

Regarding animatrons, it is a very complicated and difficult thing to rebuild or reconstruct an animatron and unfortunately not a subject I'm overly familiar with.

Sincerely,

Adelia Tyrell
