A unique opportunity is available to the armed groups of Sanctuary.
In the Watch's continuous efforts to protect Upper Sanctuary from the many dangers of the ruins of Dunwarren, it is the Watch's intention to establish a post at the area commonly known as the Ruined Stairway directly south of the Watch House.
The Ruined Stairway leads down roughly 50 yards to a small, suspended stone area. From there, the stairway is generally considered too unstable and covered with rubble to continue downward. Other than the confidential information learned from a single Spellguard exploratory mission, it is unknown how deep the shaft goes or to where it leads. What is known is that flying creatures and monsters are known to fly upwards and present an immediate danger to the town. The shaft itself appears to penetrate significantly deeper than the elevation of Lower Sanctuary, but not directly connect to Lower Sanctuary.
Built into the suspended rock island is a building and small cave system that, once improved and cleaned, would be suitable for use by a small to medium sized group.
The Watch is prepared to rent the area to a group who can perform the following requirements:
- Pay regular, modest rent - Improve the area, there's an infestation of fungus and mushrooms in the Post Building that will need to be cleaned out, as well as make other improvements - Ensure that the post is defended from flying monsters that may endanger Sanctuary - Cooperate with the Watch fully, recognizing that the area will remain Watch jurisdiction and property.
