A report concerning the plague:
Last night, I spoke with Agent Varlam, who mentioned that the Spellguard needed more knowledge of what was in the cure, and that it might be learned by questioning the cure-distributors in Lower.
After speaking to one of the hooded Moanderites in Lower, near the gambling hall, I was unable to learn much. However, I was then approached by one of the orphans, who told me that they brought the cure up from the Sewers in crates and barrels.
I went to the Sewers and spoke with the Moanderite there, who threatened me to leave. I pressed him for information, and he told me where to go in the Sewers- a location not far north of the gnome lift.
I went there, and was shocked to encounter a large group of Lizardmen- at least 10, perhaps more. Before I could speak to them, they attacked me, and the hooded Moanderite assisted them. I slew the Moanderite and one of the lizardmen, but being obviously outnumbered, I retreated.
I quickly gathered a group of men: Leon Belmont, Julian Fryars, and another warrior. I was afraid the lizardmen would leave without us learning anything, so we immediately went back. We fought them once again, pushing through their ranks, and found barrels full of the cure, as well as some coin and a portal. As we fought, lizardmen continued to pour through the portal. We killed at least 40 of them, although it may have been many more than that. Additionally, they also sent 4-5 Deep Lizards through the portal to attack us.
At one point, I sent the other warrior with us to bring others to help. He brought back Seeker Kor'us and several other warriors. Once we finally secured the portal, we entered it quickly. We came out at a river off the Dark Lake's south shore. There was a large number of lizardmen there, 12-20, as well as a few deep lizards, and a lizardfolk ship. We slew all of the lizardfolk, but had no way to board the ship, and it fled when we began firing on it.
I found a device by the portal and dismantled it, which caused the portal to close and shut down. We then returned to Sanctuary- no one was lost.
Speculation: -From the large numbers of lizardfolk (more than 60), as well as the presence of deep lizards, it seems that the Lizardfolk may have been planning an attack. They definitely initiated the fight.
-I can't figure out why they were supplying the Moanderites with the cure, if that's what they were doing.
-Perhaps they planned on invading Sanctuary in its weakened state, using the cures to protect themselves.
-Perhaps the Lizardfolk are aiding the Moanderites in exchange for cures for themselves.
-It's always possible this is simply a faction within the Lizardfolk settlement- however, reports have always indicated that most are heavily supported of their leadership, the Synod.
Recommendation: -Obviously, as many already suspected, the Lizardfolk are involved somehow with the plague. After this battle, which may have prevented them from actually invading Sanctuary, I think we clearly have a right to confront them, perhaps even attack them.
