My favorite campaign settings are Dragonlance and Eberron. The one I dislike the most is the Forgotten Realms.
So why am I playing Neverwinter Nights and Escape from the Underdark? Well, the answer is that Neverwinter Nights is a very good game, and Escape from the Underdark is a very good persistent world.
However, while I was chatting in #efu, one chatter told me that he knew of a decent Dragonlance persistent world.
Do you know of any decent Dragonlance or Eberron roleplaying persistent worlds?
Don't worry, I'll still play Escape from the Underdark. However, I want to at least try playing in my favorite settings.
P.S.
Please don't tell me to do a search on NWVault. There are several persistent worlds that have a score of 10 but actually totally suck. Hall of the Worlds is one, where you are actually ENCOURAGED to equip your level 1 characters with items from your level 40 characters.

I've found in my travels that a good PW is very hard to come by, and I can assure you that if you're looking for something that is like EfU but is DL, then you are out of luck, good sir.
CoA (also FR) and EfU are the only decent hardcore RPPW's out there, that meet my approval, and I have played on *ALOT* of servers, even the application ones.
PS: Eberron is terrible compared to FR, how can you say this?
Sidenote: That MMORPG dnd game is eberron, I'm sure someone probably role plays on that.

I feel that the Forgotten Realms is terrible compared to Eberron, so let us agree to disagree. :D
What is CoA?

If this is the case I witnessed, the player in question told you she knew of a Dragonlance server, but also that it wasn't decent.

That MMORPG dnd game is eberron...
The RPG part is a cover-up meant to give the impression that we geeks will find it entertaining. There's no such thing as RP within an MMO--DDO is no different. >.>
As to which of the settings is the better one, all I can say is that they all have their positives and negatives. Forgotten Realms is swarming with high-level NPCs, one of them a bigger powerbuild than the other, while Eberron has basically no high-level NPCs at all.

I agree with snoteye.
I did give D&D online Beta a try , and it's good in some ways game play wise for, and as far as MMORPG's i've tried it's better than all the other mmorpg's i've tried.
However dont make the mistake of thinking you can roleplay there.
Eberron tries to pull the player up to the hero, as snoteye said theres no NPC's of power there hardly at all. Theres a bit too much hero worship. Get a really high rep in FABLE (which is a great single player game) and you'll have all the peasants idolising you (which can be quite sickening after the first few times)
Forgotten realms: Cormyr is a reasonable server also (in the roleplay channel)
But you dont like the realms :)
For me I dont feel theres anything I can do elsewhere that I cant do in efu. The amount of effort put into this server is truly astounding and you'd be very hard pressed to find another like it.
I wouldnt mind trying a DL , greyhawk, Planescape etc server if they were there up to the same quality.
The battedale I server (FR) was on par quality wise a couple of years ago (now defunct), It went off the rails in my opinion when it went to Battledale V2, because it changed focus and added all of these MMORPG like systems , which put the focus away from the roleplay, it ended up attracting the wrong sort of person but also had no scripted areas of note (unlike BD I which had a lot) which means people couldnt go do anything interesting WITHOUT a D.M being on. It also had too many town centres but thats another problem.
You need scripted zones I believe on PW's for a few reasons:
1) It caters for timezones outside of the norm
2) It allows players to go have fun and roleplay in other areas without sitting around in taverns which can get tiresome.
3) It takes the pressure away from the d.m to have to supply entertainment, but if the d.m does join in, it makes it all the sweeter.

I don't think you could do a good pw with Eberron for NWN1. Perhaps NWN2. Also, eberron has some redeeming qualities such as its clerical alignment system. For instance you can have an evil priest of a good god. Also, its a bit more darker than the FR is. As for Dragonlance, I personally prefer the FR.
