Hello, my name is Joseph Silver, and I play as Argent Gish, an amoral mercenary wizard who works for the highest bidder.
I started playing Neverwinter Nights years ago, about a year after it was released. However, I have never tried playing on a persistent world until last month.
The first persistent world that I played on was called the Hall of the Worlds. It was not a roleplaying PW. However, this was okay, because I'm half powergamer and half roleplayer. I enjoyed the first few minutes that I played on this PW, and I thought that I had found the right one.
Then, about an hour after I started playing on the Hall of the Worlds, I ran into an illithid fighter named Illithipox (this game allowed a lot of races). He was level 5, and I was level 1. We went off to an adventure.
When we got to the Red Forest, Illithipox suddenly attacked the NPCs that were there. He dealt 100+ damage per hit, and didn't take any damage at all from the high-level NPCs in the Red Forest.
I asked him if he was cheating, because there is no way a level 5 character could ever afford such equipment. He explained that he had a level 40 character, and he transferred several plot items from this level 40 character to his level 5 character, i.e. he was "twinking". Plot items cost no gold, so they do not break the gold piece per level limit set on the server.
I reported him as a cheater on the Hall of the Worlds forums. I was told that not only is twinking legal in the Hall of the Worlds, it is actually ENCOURAGED.
Okay, time to look for another persistent world.
The next persistent world to catch my eye was Prisoners of the Mist, a Ravenloft roleplaying persistent world.
I did not last long in Prisoners of the Mist. Each area was HUGE, and it took a long time to get to your destination, even while running. Also, there did not seem to be a way to contact other characters in character, so starting a party was difficult.
The third persistent world I tried was Escape from the Underdark.
Your persistent world is the best I have played in so far. The Fed Ex quests, which required you to travel all over Sanctuary, were a very good way to know where everything was. The Sending system is a very good way of finding other adventurers, so it is relatively easy to find members for an adventuring party.
The best part of Escape from the Underdark is the scarcity of magic items. Magic items should be rare. I hate "Monty Haul" modules which let your character earn enough gold to buy a country.
I am enjoying my time on your persistent world. To the Escape from the Underdark staff, keep up the good work!
