Argent Gish

My worst roleplay blunder was when I attended a meeting for followers of the dead god, Moander. A gnome preacher of Moander told us that Sanctuary would be hit by a plague, and that only those faithful to Moander would be saved.
I interpreted this as blackmail, i.e. they plan on infecting the city with the disease which they have the only cure. I attacked the gnome, yelling, "DEATH TO THE FOLLOWERS OF MOANDER!"
I was quickly put down by the others present, because even if they saw Moander as evil, they still follow the laws of Sanctuary. At the end of the encounter, I was arrested by the watch.
Anyway, I opened up my character sheet, and it was then that I was reminded of my alignment. Argent Gish, mercenary wizard, is NEUTRAL EVIL. He's NEUTRAL EVIL as in he doesn't care what happens to Sanctuary, as long as he gets his gold. So why should he care if some cultists are planning to infect the city with plague?
Okay, so now I feel really, really stupid for acting out of alignment. Let this be a public apology to that gnome I shot with my crossbow. If you are trying to infect Sanctuary, my character, Argent Gish, will help you for the right amount of coin.
For now, let us pretend that I never attended that meeting. I was sleepy and I forgot my ingame alignment.

Keep in mind that alignments are actually dynamic. Your starting alignment really only sums up the alignment of your character -before- his story on EfU begins. For example, a LG paladin can fall, and a CE beserker can be redeemed, all in-character. Basically, don't look at alignment in a black-and-white type of mindset. It changes, depending on what you do. Your wizard may have come to realise Sanctuary's existence is the single most important element in him making gold, so you could still be NE and do what you did.

Like most people I've had my share of dismal RP blunders. Once, a character of mine and another were planning on killing someone. We made the plan, which involved meeting at a particular place, where the victim would be led by another we had paid. I went to get supplies and head out to the rendevous place. Sat there for like 10 mins before I realized I had messed up the rather obvious IC description, and that I had actually gone to the wrong place. In the meantime, my ally had been spotted at the -right- place and was subsequently killed!

You know. I didn't see that as a blunder, I sort of enjoyed the chaotic aspect you added to that meeting! But, if it makes you feel any better, apology accepted. :)
As for the rest of your post, these sort of things are best worked out in character. ;)
Edit: Welcome to EFU!

And although you might be NE, you might still care about what happens to Sanctuary. It is your home. And you might get infected too.
I don't have bad RP moments... erm. Or rather, I forget them.

Actually, the character background for Argent Gish that I submitted to the DMs describes him as an amoral mercenary who cares only for gold. I forgot about the "I don't give a damn about Sanctuary" part, and I am sorry for that.
I know that alignment is not necessarily black and white. My favorite fantasy character, Raistlin Majere, is neutral evil. However, he is not neutral evil because he wants to make others miserable. He is neutral evil because he doesn't care at all what happens to his companions.
The same applies to my character, Argent Gish. He is a mercenary, and his loyalty can be bought for the right amount of coin.

One of my last characters I played actively, had slowly gone quite mad by the end of his life. I had invited several people to a meeting to discuss ways to discuss escape from the underdark. He had in fact invited them there to spare them the pain of the underdark. After buffing myself to high hell, I screamed some insanity's and took down a good 6 or 7 people....unfortunately I forgot to turn FD on and the second they all woke up ran around attacking me as if nothing happened....biggest blunder ever. If you plan to PVP, ALWAYS check your FD. *sigh*

Not sure this is quite a RP blunder but i guess it is close.
To set the scene..
Whilst doing a caravan mission on a well known Arabel based PW :) my group was attacked by a priest of Malar we had turned down to join us (i was a cleric of Mielikki) on the job.
We counter-attacked and he ran.. all ok so far... However, at the same time a Druid was walking near by... who had set everyone on the server to hostile as he was RP being anti-civilisation etc. (we didn't know this at the time). Basically, with the priest having run and turned invisbile, we set on this completely innocent bystander because he was 'hostile'... we presumed he was in on the attack. Due to red mist we tracked him over three screens all of us on FD ready to completely annilate him etc... fortunately before we completely killed him he managed to escape.
Basically we let an OOC thing (being set as hostile) affect our IG actions, we shouldn't have presumed IG that because he was red he was attacking us. There i have got it off my chest... :)
Let this be a warning to all! ;)

I was playing a druid and didn't really understand what creatures were considered aberrations. Typically, Helios, when he wasn't rat hunting, would watch what Nashira didn't like and react more or less in this fashion- *watches Nashira rant about unnatural creature, then attack it* "So, we don't like these then? Got it." *pokes the dead thing with his pointy stick*

My favourite RP blunder was not my own, but rather a good friend, and someone playing a town councillor. While sitting in his office discussing what would need to be done to get our faction some perks we want to exercise, he started getting on about an NPC he was having some problems with. He then went on, intending to say "I would like his head", but due to a brain fart, or just not paying attention to what he was typing, he actually said "I would like head".
Well, the two men sitting down at the table immediately looked at the only girl (played by a guy of course) and said OOCly "XXX, you're up..." and "better get this over with..."
lol, makes me laugh even now. Too funny

I was adventuring near Traensyr with a group and I accidentally typed
"I'd like to mate a drow."
Instead of:
"I'd like to meet a drow."
Needless to say that the responses of the other party members didn't let me live it down ICly.

I was at that meeting you spoke of, Argent. I sort of had a feeling you were up to something, and I thought the whole thing was pretty entertaining. My only problem is that you didn't set Francis and Calduil to hostile before attacking. Otherwise, that meeting was some good ol' RP fun!

My worst RP mistake:
I was playing a tactically minded fighter retainer to a House on another server. I was excited, having big plans for the character after building a solid background and a set of good goals over about a month. I was excited as well because it was my first application for any position and had ben accepted.
One week after starting the character the DM of the House retired and no one else picked up the spot. One week and one day later I found a few ooc good bye letters from the other players in the faction. I continued with mine for about three more weeks after that before ending up dropping the character and moving on.
My mistake was this- I had then been given a clean House, one I could have molded and groomed for recruits. I could have been the captain of the guard there, if I had wanted it. I could have done a lot. However, I quit the character because I felt a overwhealmed by the enormity of the situation and the abrupt lack of interest from the other players.
What I should have done was carried on. Shown other players that there was something of interest there and made something of it. It was a lost opportunity. If you find yourself playing alone in a faction, please don't make the same mistake I did. In time you will find support and recruits, and be able to elevate your character through what you had done in the hard times to a great level.
Edit: by the way, I would give 10 obscurity points to anyone who actually knows my other log in name back then.

My asexual characters kept falling in love with Kiaring characters. Not matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't stop, and my characters kept doing it.
Sigh.

My worst RP blunder was when Kata went to the first slave auction, and bought three slaves. She had some grand plans for them, but they all fell through the roof when she was killed by trolls on the way back from Fort Mur in a stupid blunder on my part, wandering into the wrong area.
Stuffed up new starts for three other players (which I still feel bad about) and lost my favourite all time character in a really stupid death...
