Letter to the Watch

in neat script

City Watch;

I hereby request a complete copy of the city ordinances, laws, and associated standard punishments for the set infractions and crimes. My request is based in a desire to ensure I function well within the ascribed bounds of the law as set by government and enforced by your body. I can be reached at the Rock Bottom Inn.

That Order May Prevail,

signed,

Lawkeeper Lucien Hull, Cleric of the Holy Tyr

Official Lawbook of the City of Sanctuary Published and current as of Hammer 28th, Year 151

Crimes: Willfully Endangering Sanctuary: exile or stoning

Murder of Sanctuary Citizen: exile or stoning, dependent upon Council

Assault upon Sanctuary Citizen with intent to kill (using weapons or deadly magic): exile or stoning, dependent upon Council

Assault (hands, harmless magic): imprisonment, fine, or exile depending on situation

Theft: imprisonment + fine

Public Nuissance: imprisonment and/or fine

Endangering Sanctuary (accidental): anywhere from fine to exile depending on situation

Sustained Criminal Behavior (repeated crimes): exile

Unauthorized Magic Use: Minor Imprisonment

Repeated Unauthorized Magic Use: Imprisonment + fine

Animation of the Dead within Dunwarren: Serious to Capital Charges.

Trespass: imprisonment and/or fine.

Judgment: All crimes not involving exile or stoning are judged by highest ranking Spellguard or Watch member present.

All crimes involving exile, stoning, or "Council's Judgment" are determined by Council. A council member may sit in judgment of the case, and propose a punishment. If Councilmember disagree on the best judgement, a majority vote will determine the punishment. Judges are chosen randomly from the pool of available judges capable of judging the case at hand.

Moreover, it is important to note that crimes against citizens of Sanctuary outside the Dunwarren may still be enforced, and that being outside the walls of this city is no excuse for wrongful acts. Additionally, refusing to come in for questioning is grounds for arrest for a minor crime.

Welcome to Sanctuary, Lawkeeper. May Tempus' favour keep to you in your war against the unlawful.

That Order May Prevail,

Private Erin Larche of Tempus Sanctuary Watch

Dear sir,

You can buy a law book from the book shop in town; at this time we are working to bring the book up to date. So, if you check back within a releatively short time period a brand new version should be available. In fact, I shall alert you as to exactly when this book becomes available, using the same address you have already given.
