The spell freedom of movement by my understanding was suppose to avoid a characters movement from being impeded. When doing the gnolls a character with the spell on him was stunned and I think that is a bug but not for sure. Just bringing it to attention.

Stunning is usually the result of a mind-affecting spell, which freedom of movement gives no protection from.

Freedom protects against: Entanglement, Grease, Slow, Hold, movement speed decrease.
It doesn't protect against Knockdown, Stun, Daze and a few other "hampering" effects as mentioned above.
Something like protection from allignment depending, would protect yo u from "mind effects" like stun and daze, but not movement things.

Protects against Petrification as well. Very handy against gorgons or what ever else.
