I clicked on some gold and tried to trade it. The subject was busy, I got the "Lost 380 gold" message. After it failed to trade due to her being busy, I never got the "acquired 380 gold" message. I thus, lost the gold and only got it back after a DM replaced it.
I figured this has to do with "Busy" characters eatting up trade items, or only gold.

Peculiar. Is this specific to "Escape from Underdark", or is this a bug in default Neverwinter Nights multiplayer as well?

Can somebody test this out in the OC, for example, and see whether the same problem occurs?

I would, but I don't have many friends.

You don't need friends when you have people to slap around with fish in #efu.

You can give money to objects, therefore I believe you can give money to anything. I seem to remember Temon paid his candelabra 200 or something gold once. Seemed to cover candle upkeep...
I can probably go and test this properly but my almost complete take is, "hard coded, thats how it goes". Always use the barter window kiddies.

I give up on trying to get somebody to actually go in and test this. >_<
This is almost certainly not something that can be dealt with on our end. Just be careful about bartering gold that way.
