[Hundreds of these posters are suddenly littered around Upper and Lower Sanctuary, posted in every conceivable location.]
[Next to the poster the following is written on another piece of parchment.]
Where are the heroes of our age? Where are those who would stand against the Drow, the Duergar, the Mind Flayers and the Beholders? Where are those who would crush the self-proclaimed Chosen, the wererats that dwell in this very city?
Look around you citizen, and know that down here is nothing but savage chaos. This chaos strips away the thin veneer of civilization, leaving us with only the very core of what shapes this world. It is this thing that determines who leads and who follows, it determines who lives and who dies, and it is this thing that separates a master from his slave. This thing that is woven into every man and rock around you is Strength. It takes strong men to lead, and an even stronger man to survive in the Underdark. Strength is what forges cities, kingdoms and civilizations. In the end, it is the one unarguable virtue by which all men stand or fall.
This is what the Knights of Toboerski offer to Sanctuary: Strength. The Strength to crush those who would challenge us. The Strength to carve out a living for our families among the rocks and the pebbles of our new home. The Strength to rebuild a city. The Strength to forge a civilization. Strength is the one virtue which the Knights of Toboerski cherish above all others, and it is through our strength that we offer Sanctuary hope for the future.
[At the bottom, in large bold letters a question is posed.]
"Are you strong enough?"
---- //OOC: Ideally someone wishing to join the Knights of Toboerski will be the following:
* Someone with understanding of Martial Weapons. Some races are excluded for their inability to use certain weapons, such as Halflings and Gnomes.
* Someone who can at least wear medium armor. This does not mean that you have to wear medium armor all the time - only have the ability. Wizards are welcome to join, but they must be able to wear the armor.
* Someone with a Lawful Neutral/Evil Alignment. This is not a rule or a restriction, just a recommendation to which alignments fit the Knight's best. Good aligned people may find it hard to remain good. Chaotic types may find some of the requirements and restrictions not suiting them too much. Although, for example, a Chaotic Good character could still join - provided that the character is thoroughly convinced that all that House Toboerski does is for the greater good, and thus willing to do whatever is necessary to bring about this "good".
* The character must be of a "goodly" race. Another words, it cannot be a Drow or Duergar. Half-Orcs are accepted, but are screened carefully. The more "Human" they appear and act, the higher chance of acceptance. As stated above, Halflings and Gnomes are generally rejected for their inability to use certain weapons, though some exceptions *MIGHT* be made, depending on the character and his/her concept.
* Certain deities may restrict your character. Although this is not asked of applicants, following a deity devoted to something that is contrary to the House's goals/motivations may find their character rejected on that basis. (This does not mean, of course, that you cannot hide your religious affiliation, and this is more directed at Clerics.)
* If you are interested in joining, write Melrick a letter or find him in game. I'm going to need the following OOC information from you: Your Gamespy ID, your Forum Name, your typical playing times, and your character name.
