Sealed Letter to the Seekers

Dearest friends,

My name is Mandarin Dreagle, and like you I seek an escape from the Underdark. What pains me most is that so many in Sanctuary do not believe such is possible, even though Frederick Bresley himself escaped we all know to the surface.

What blatant disregard for reality prevents others from recognizing this fact? Beyond the selfish greed of some powerful men in this city who stand to lose much if its citizens find true freedom, most damning to our mutual cause is the simple fact few believe that Frederick Bresley escaped in truth.

To rectify this, I offer a proposal, perhaps it is of untoward motivations. Yet sincerely I believe in the accuracy of its necessity, and when viewed as a metaphor for a greater truth and less as the greater truth in itself, I come to find no wrong in the idea.

Pamphlets and books, advertising for the way out, proselytizing all is necessary. Most importantly, the people must know that Frederick Bresley escaped. Let them know by way of pamphlets or even a book that on the night Frederick escaped our prison that all the Seekers shared a singular dream. Frederick Bresley exiting a cavern into a star lit sky, surrounded by the shadowy outlines of trees with a simple peaceful smile on his face as he turned to face his first dawn.

The truth must be known, I've already set down to put pen to parchment to begin this task. Say just the word, and the truth is yours to share.

Mandarin Dreagle

Mandarin,

It is good to hear from a motivated individual, ready to back up his words and proposals with actions, a quality scarcely found among the fleeting appetites of men.

There are like-minded folk flourishing in our organisation, and while in the centuries past I have oft questioned the wisdom of ascending mortal men as spiritual talismans, having known Fredrick as a friend, I have no doubt he would have wanted to be a beacon of hope in this dreary, destitute imitation of dignity we call life.

Suffice to say, I will not stop an external benefactor from helping the cause of freedom in their own way, it would be hypocritical of me to even try. Merely know that our own freedom indicates that you must not put words into our lips, and attempt to speak for us, unless you wish for your content to be scrutinised before hand, in which case, you are welcome to speak with Brother Willoud, in fact I am sure you would find you two have some things in common.

Sweet wine and light laughter, 'till we meet in person.
